Who Was G.4 The Cameroonian Gospel Artist Who Died Today

🇨🇲😭 Cameroon Mourns the Sudden Passing of Gospel Rap Pioneer Arrey Tek (G.4)

The Cameroonian gospel music community and the wider African gospel rap scene mourn the transition of a true pioneer and visionary entrepreneur, Arrey Tek, known to the world as G.4 AKA Sound Boy.

He passed away on the morning of March 16, 2026. He had been very active at the Mount Cameroon Race just a few weeks ago in February, and his passing comes at a time when he was expected to make a powerful comeback to the music scene after a nearly two-year absence. Tragically, his demise followed a week of personal milestones; he had just rented a new house last Tuesday and received a professional promotion.

Many viewed G.4 as more than just a rapper; they saw him as a vessel. In an industry where the fusion of Hip-Hop and Gospel was often met with skepticism, G.4 stood as a pillar of resilience. For over a decade, he "shut his ears to negativity" and kept his gaze fixed on his divine calling, proving that rap could be a powerful tool for the glorification of Jesus Christ.

G.4’s music was more than entertainment—it was a testimony. Whether he was dropping bars on "New Creation," the "Supernatural", "King’s Priest", or sharing his heart in "The Light," his lyrics were steeped in faith and perseverance. He collaborated with many brethren to push the gospel forward. Some of his major collaborations include:
🔸Ewert Sun ft. G.4 – "Pray"
🔸G.4 ft. TB1 – "All I See Is Jesus"
🔸G.4 ft. Prosper Menko – "Sound Code"
🔸G.4 ft. Lesline – "Zion"
🔸G.4 ft. Maureen Forbah – "One by One"
🔸Saint D ft. G.4 – "Born Again"
🔸G.4 ft. Asheck – "Why"

Beyond the microphone, G.4 was a builder of people. Through Eagle’s Wings Productions, he became a bridge for others. He founded the Ultimate Christian Battle League (UCBL) to sharpen the lyrical skills of young rappers and launched the first-ever all-female rap cypher in Cameroon, ensuring that young women with a passion for gospel rap had a platform to shine. His Barz Master Class and the G.4 Foundation further cemented his status as a philanthropist who believed in "sharpening the gifts" of others.

His work impacted the lives of many, including Paul MOG, Asheck Blessing, Karen Twist, Sharon Glow, LADY HEART, Kum Kezette, Dunamis x Tang, Eleanor Futela, Ayuk Ako, Elyon-Bright, Elsa Zoe, Arah Perez, Clara Lyte, Alvy, Sonia, Deby, and countless others.

Arrey Tek balanced the spiritual with the professional with admirable grace. As the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Biaka Group, he was known as an enthusiastic, God-fearing, and supportive colleague. His entrepreneurial spirit also birthed the "Born Again by G4" clothing line, a brand that brought urban faith culture to the forefront of Cameroonian fashion.

Arrey Tek was a resilient sickle cell warrior who remained steadfast despite numerous health challenges. A vocal advocate against drug abuse and a fervent member of Christ Embassy, he frequently promoted the Rhapsody of Realities, often wearing the ministry's T-shirt in his music videos.

The name "G.4"—which he coined to mean "God Gives Grace and Greatness"—reflected his belief that he worked not for man, but for He that gave him a second chance.

A devoted fan of Manchester United and a lover of football, he leaves behind a beautiful wife, Mrs. Yvette Tam, and a daughter.
