WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SERVING GOD?

John 12:26.

When we serve God we are not helping God but helping our selves. The benefits are for us and not to the One we serve. When we serve God, we put Him first in our lives; this ultimately demonstrates our love and obedience to Him. Furthermore, we receive His blessings and grow closer to Him when we do this.

When God sent Moses to Egypt He told him "go and tell Pharoah to let my people go ,so that they may worship/ serve me" .

Apostle Paul made an intriguing statement in his letter to Timothy, 'This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves...' (2 Timothy 3:1, 2) Pay attention to these words, 'Perilous time shall come because men shall be lovers of their own selves.' 

Many people have brainwashed with myopic thoughts and so give dangerous reasons why they don't serve God. Some said I was disappointed in my former church,some said I just want to be a normal Christian and that those who serve God AR pastors ( hahahaha), that I don't want to be under control and mentorship by a spiritual authority, some say I don't have time ,my job and business are so demanding and so I can't for go them because Jesus or church cannot put good on my table and the list continues. ..........

The truth is a lot of believers in the church are happy to only show up for Sunday services and most are self serving and wallowing in self indulgence without ever giving a thought to serving the Lord who redeemed them from sin and eternal damnation. That is not a criticism of the modern church but a matter of fact statement. 

Today we have everything at our disposal and we are not taking advantage of it because many in the church are simply not passionate about serving the Lord.

God has done much for us in the saving of our lives by sending his own Son as our redeemer and sin-bearer. To serve God is not a grievous or hard task because God is a great boss and a great rewarder. In fact the Bible reveals to us that there are great benefits in serving God.

■ BENEFITS OF SERVING GOD.

1. Serving God attracts Blessings. 

An Example was woman who served God under me as a Christian in the year 2015- 2017.Through her genuine Christian service, God opened her doors to travel to the US and God reunited her family. This mama used to be a native doctor.She had served as a natived for over 25years.When she received her deliverance she chosed to serve God. She would clean the church environment every week single handedly. She was covering a distance of 3km on foot just to attend Sunday,midweek and Bible services.But one day the Lord visited her and her life changed till date ( its an interesting story for another day).

The Bible says in Exodus 23:25-28 that "And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee"

These verses could not be any more clearer to us that serving God is for our betterment and profit. Here are a few benefits of serving God. When you serve God, 

•He will bless your bread and water

•He will take away sickness from your midst

•There will be no miscarriage

•There will be no barrenness

•There will be no premature death

•You will have long life and fulfill destiny

•Your enemies will turn away from you.

2.No One can serve God and go back empty Handed. 

Here is another great undeniable verse that shows the profitability of serving God,

 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Job 36:11

I want to encourage YOU to get involved in serving God. You may ask, 'So how do I serve God?' Allow me to give you some ways,

Serve God with your life

Serve God in your church

Serve God with your talents

Serve God with your time

Serve God with your money - tithes and offerings.Remember the Lord your God for it is He what gives wealth. 

3.Serve God by serving others

You will never be at a loss when you serve God. He has done much for us and he will do much more for you. I want to challenge you with the words of President John Kennedy. In 1961 during his Inaugural Address, President Kennedy uttered these powerful words, 'My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.'  

Today, I am asking you, 'My fellow believers, ask not what your God can do for you, ask what can you do for your God.

4. Divine Protection And Preservation

to you as well. (NIV). Philippians 4:19; My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (ESV).

When you serve the Lord, you can be confident that He will protect and preserve you and your family. This is one of the benefits of serving God as a family. God is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Because you belong to Him, He watches over you. He will never let anything harm you (Psalm 121:7). The Lord is your shield, and His faithfulness will safeguard you from all evil (Proverbs 30:5). You can rest assured that as long as you serve Him. He will keep you safe from all harm.
