THE NEED FOR CONTEXTUALIZATION || REV. BOBBS LYONGA ELIVE

I cannot cease crying out for the urgent need for contextualization in this generation. Each time I scroll through social media and encounter isolated clips or quotes from sermons posted without background or balance, my spirit grieves. This is not a trivial matter, it deserves to be taught as a core course in every School of Ministry.

Beloved, even truth, when taken out of context, can become a weapon of deception. A statement may be doctrinally sound, yet when detached from its original setting and spirit, it can sound like error. Every revelation must be discerned within the atmosphere, audience, and intention in which it was delivered.

To all #bloggers, #editors, and #digital scribes, please, let us handle the Word of God with holy reverence. When you extract a portion of a preacher’s message, do not amputate its context. Without proper framing, what was meant to edify may suddenly become a tool of confusion. The preacher’s words, though spoken under divine inspiration, can be wrongly interpreted when stripped of their intended perspective and purpose.

The outcome of such misrepresentation is grievous: it breeds confusion in the Body of Christ, wounds the innocent, and misleads immature believers. Even worse, it creates unnecessary suspicion around genuine voices of God. It has been rightly said, “A half-truth is more dangerous than a lie,” for it wears the garment of accuracy while carrying the poison of distortion.

May we be custodians of truth, not manipulators of fragments. The Church is not helped when revelation is mutilated to suit entertainment. Let us guard both the message and its meaning, for context gives life to truth; without it, even revelation becomes misrepresentation.
