You serve sin when you allow your fear of sinning stops you from reaching forth to your full potentials in Christ.
This is the Part 3 of this teaching series on “UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF SIN”. In the previous Parts of this Study, we observed that sin has strength and the body of sin has been destroyed. It is obvious also from our previous studies that sin is no longer a factor in our Christian life. In our spiritual relationship with the Father, sin is no longer a factor to be held tenaciously because the body of sin and the dynamics of sin has been destroyed.
It is a scriptural misnomer for a Child of God to be hindered by the forces of sin. It is grossly unbiblical for a child of God to be limited by sin and or set backward by sin. The truth is that many of us as believers in Christ have not come to appreciate the implications and impact of the sacrifice of Christ and what it entails for you as a child of God. If you do, you will never for once be afraid of sin in whatever assignment given to you by God.
One of the most dangerous phenomenon I have discovered amongst believers is their strong fear for sin and the obsession regarding being sin conscious. Many in this way have fallen short of reaching the full dimension of the target set for them by God. Many believers are still playing religion and are still struggling with the matter of sin forgetting that their sins has been purged and that they are supposed to live free to serve the living God. Often when teachings like this comes up, many nepios (babes) in the things of the spirit feel and or think that it is an encouragement to keep sinning or a way of giving the brethren the license to continue sinning. The truth is that sin is not to have dominion over you; you are to ride upon the finished works of Christ to deal with any sinful passions in your life knowing fully well that sin has lost its pull and push over you. You have nothing to fear about sin because you now operate from the realm of victory over sin.
From our Bible Text for today in Romans 6:6; there is this expression: “that henceforth we should not serve sin”. The word used here as “Serve”, taken from its Greek word “douleuo”, means to be in bondage, to be at the service of sin because of fear. What does this imply? There are many believers who have failed to take their place in the scheme of things and in destiny because they are afraid of sinning . Many brethren have lost their participation and forsaken certain careers because they are afraid of being overtaken by the corruptions within the system or career as though their salvation was as a result of their hard works or carefulness.
The church has lost the domain of politics because of fear of not wanting to sin. Many of us believe that politics is very dirty. Who then will cleans it seeing the weight of influence politics weighs over everything around us? The church has lost the domain of education and even the domain of science and research because we are afraid of sinning. We seem to have given the ungodly access to own the world for which Christ died and we are now struggling to gain relevance. Ask an average believer why you are not excelling in that profession of yours, or why are you not heading that career entity? His response could be “I don’t want to get involve in that mess or be corrupted”. Whatever you are afraid of rules over you and whatever you fail to confront, you cannot conquer. You cannot conquer the world for Christ by being afraid of their activities. You cannot conquer the world for Christ by isolation due to your fear of sinning.
1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. All you need to do is to discover the light that governs the domain you desire to dominate for Christ and for the gospel and walk in them. As long as you walk in the light, His blood cleanses you from all sins. Not from some sins but from all sins. Whatever sin that permeates any domain, has nothing to do with you if you discover the light of God in that domain and walk in them.
Dearly beloved, stop allowing your fear of not wanting to sin or trying to avoid sin limit you from reaching the zenith of God for you in that career. Don’t allow your sin consciousness stop you from stretching your life to the altitude that bring glory to God. Your success and excellence in that domain and in that profession, is evangelism on its own. Your testimony of success is an avenue for soul winning. Stop serving sin by being afraid of it and reach out your life to serve the living God. There is an operational light of the Old Testament and there is an operational light of the New Testament. The operational light of the Old Testament is the Law and the operational light of the New Testament is Grace and Truth. If you use the operational light of the Old Testament in the New Testament, you will fail woefully likewise there is an operational light of politics, there is an operational light of the academics (Education), there is an operational light of medicine etc. discover these operational lights of each of these domain and walk in them. If you walk in these lights, the blood of Christ cleanses you from all sins associated within these domains. Stop fearing sin, stretch your life so that you can reach your full potentials and capacities for God and for His kingdom.
