1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Your understanding of the power sin will help you to break loose from its deceitfulness and to live free towards God and be fulfilled in life and destiny.
There is this level of sin consciousness that have perverted the lives of many believers such that their knowledge of righteous provisions of God in Christ is short circuited and they are always and comprehensively demobilized by their weaknesses and sins to the point that they fail to realize their destinies but overwhelmingly mourn their sins endlessly.
From the Bible Text for today in 1 Corinthians 15:56; it will be noted that there is a Strength of Sin. The word Strength in that portion of the scripture is called Dunamis in Greek which connotes Might, Power, and ability. This implies that sin has ability, it has might and it has a working capacity. It is very dangerous to undermine the dynamics and might of sin. To neglect the might and power of sin is to be vulnerable in life. Also from Roman 6:14, it is noted that sin has dominion
From today’s teaching, your understanding of the power sin will help you to break loose from its deceitfulness and to live free towards God and be fulfilled in life and destiny. In my years of relationship with the Lord, I have come to realize that there is the strength of sin that must be conquered if we must become what God has destined for us in Christ Jesus. There is a dominion of sin that must not be allowed to prevail and not to be allowed to reign if we must ascend to the heights God has set for us. Being a child of God doesn’t make you sinless and if you must achieve his purpose and plan for you, you must learn to live above the strength and dominion of sin.
Most often believers pay attention to the wages and effects of sin without attention to its power and its influence. If you can destroy its power, you will stop its effects and wages. Most teachings about sin have always been based on the consequences of sin but not on how to deal with the power of sin which is a ruling factor that brings about sinning.
To deal with the power of sin begins with understanding and destroying the sources of Sin. When the source of a thing is destroyed, invariably the ability and strength of such is easily destroyed. When the source of a thing is discovered, it is very much easier to deal with the subject matter.
There are 3 (three) major sources of the power of sin:
1. The lust you have. Your lust or ambition or strong desire for anything in contrast to the standards of God empowers sin. Especially when you desires runs against set biblical and scriptural standards. James 1: 14 -15
2. The way you talk about things. Certain acts if talking or words empower sin. When you speak and see sin in everything, you empower sin. There is power in words and in the tongue. Your sin conscious and sin-filled words consequently create sin. The term sin-filled words used here has to do with you seeing sin in everything or being judgmental about everything. Remember, nothing is evil in itself but the way we speak about them creates the sins around it. (Romans 14:14,20). Nothing is evil in itself but your negative perceptions create the necessary evil round about it and this empowers sin.
3. Setting unrealistic Standards or boundaries or principles for yourself. There is this holier than thou attitude many believers display to show off spirituality. They set strict principles for themselves that becomes a snare to their spiritual development. Instead of flowing with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead them along their path of spirituality, they instead decide to set and or formulate principles which at any time they are unable to keep to such principles, their conscience becomes injured and they feel spiritually demobilized. There was no sin until the law came. The Holy Spirit was given to you to help you live unto God not by your rules. There is nothing wrong setting rules if the Holy Spirit is leading you to do so. These unrealistic rules and principles give power and strength to sin.
PROPHETIC PRAYERS:
Father, thank you for your word to me this morning. I repent of every lust, wrong perceptions and unrealistic rules that has made me more vulnerable to sinning in the Name of Jesus Christ. Father, help me to live one day at a time by the leading of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.
ALTAR CALL:
If you have not yet received Jesus Christ in your life, this is an opportunity for you to do so. Please say this prayer:
Father, I acknowledge my sins and I ask for forgiveness and mercy. I declare that Jesus Christ is Lord and I receive Him into my life today. Thank you Father in the Name of Jesus Christ.
