HOW TO UNDERSTANDING THE SET TIME

Psalms 102:13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come

There are things yet unrealized about you and which I know you might be thinking it is not yet time but the Lord is saying that this is the set time.

From the Text above in Psalms 102:13, God said “The Set Time is Come”. This implies that the set time is now. The set time is no longer in the future but it is now. You are no longer expected to be waiting for the time, rather move on into the things you have been waiting for.

John 4:35, Our Lord Jesus Christ said “Say not ye, there are yet four months, and then cometh harvest?” He is implying that you should stop procrastinating your results. Stop postponing your results. Stop shifting the outcome of your labour. He implies that you should act now because the set time is here. It is the right time to do the needful.

Again, the Bible Text in 2Corinthians 6:2 indicates that “…behold, now is the accepted time…” this implies that you need to be aware that this is the appointed time; the set time for that miracle, the set time for that answers you have been waiting for; the appointed and most appropriate time to carry out that project, engage in that activities, carry out those services you have been wishing to do.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

The term “Set Time” speaks of the “the timing of the Lord”. That instant when it must happen. We all live in a system of measurement that we call time, and we are all limited by this general system we call time.

We will not be talking about the “general” time, rather about “SET TIME” . The word “Set time” means “an appointed time, an appointed place, and an appointed season.” Throughout our life time,  we seem to be laboring continually to receive all that God has promised us through His Word. We are spending our “time” (general) in prayer, fasting, declaring, serving, etc., but only seeing glimpses of what the Lord has for us and even after that, it appears the actual promise is yet to come to pass. The reason is that though we have used our general time to pray and prepare, yet the set time for the manifestation of the promise hasn’t come. I want to let you know that as you  read this sermon today, you are entering the “set time” that God has appointed to fulfill all things in your life.

  - Moses proclaims that God would raise up a Prophet for His people (talking about Jesus). [Deuteronomy. 18:15]
- The prophet Isaiah proclaims that God would give us a sign and His Son (Jesus) would   be born of a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14)

These are things that are spoken in “time”, but it wasn’t the “set time” that God had appointed. God will have us proclaim things over our lives in the “general” realm of time, but it may not be the “set time” that God has ordained for it to happen. We have to understand that before God does a thing, He decrees it. Our job is to stay in faith and know that God CAN NOT LIE and He has a “set time” to bring it to pass. Use your general time to prepare and wait for the set time.

- The Angel Gabriel speaks to the Virgin Mary and tells her of the promise of God to His people, and she will CONCEIVE and BIRTH the Savior of the world. (Luke 1: 26-38)
- The wise men came to find the young child because His star had appeared in the heavens announcing the “set time” of His Birth. (Matthew 2:1-11)
- The Apostle John tells us that in the beginning was the Word, but that Word (the promise that was declared) has NOW become flesh (manifested into the natural realm). [John 1:1-14].

Just like with the story of Jesus’ birth, you may be in a place of conceiving the SEED that the Lord has spoken to you. You may be in the place of proclaiming what the Lord has said to you, or you may be in the place of birthing what has been promised. Whichever stage you are in, know that the Lord has a SET TIME that He will bring it to pass. It won’t be because of all of your efforts….. It’s just the timing of the Lord.
Set Time characteristically speaks of that moment and the period when a desire is giving expression or manifestation. Every set time comes with a purpose either to accomplish a promise or give reality to a desire or expectation.

In Genesis 21: 1-2, it will be understood that the desire of Sarah to become a mother was giving an expression and a manifestation at the set time. It also indicates that the promise of God for Abraham to father a son legitimately with Sarah was given a reality and fulfilment at the set time. Set times are period of manifestations and actual realizations of expectation.

It can only be the set time when an expectation is been given delivery. This is one of the dynamics of the set time; when the long-awaited desire is realized. Where there are no expectations, the time may not be set. God set time based on His promise to you; which is borne out of your desires and expectations of Him.
