THE EROSION OF HONOUR FOR SPIRITUAL FATHERS IN CAMEROON || REV. BOBBS LONGA ELIVE

There is a spiritual wiring within me that forbids, in any context, alignment with those who rise to attack the legacies of the fathers of this nation.

Recently, someone wondered aloud in the comment section, asking, “Why should a doctor honour a doctor?” As Kenneth E. Hagin once said, “It wouldn’t be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.” That question alone exposes the sickness of our generation’s thinking.

No plague has shaken Cameroonian Pentecostalism like the systematic erosion of honour for senior ministers and spiritual fathers. Men and women who laboured when the ground was dry. They carried persecution, poverty, and warfare so that a generation could inherit pulpits, media platforms, and global access.

Today, a young man bears the title “prophet,” with barely five years of ministry experience, and suddenly feels authorised to publicly reprimand a senior minister with over four decades of proven labour and scars. We have mistaken spiritual arrogance for boldness and dressed rebellion with charisma.

Let me say it plainly and repeatedly. Bearing similar titles does not confer similar mantles. We think name tags equal grace levels. We think social media followings equal spiritual stature. We think noise equals authority. And because of this delusion, a young preacher with social media popularity can stand up and announce, “The fathers have failed.” Failed?

If the fathers truly failed, then tell me, what are we building on? Dear friend, you cannot inherit a house and curse the builders. I stand unashamedly by the culture of honour. And to those who call it “man-worship,” hear this. Honour is not worship. Tribute is not idolatry. Recognition is not deification.

Scripture commands, “Honour whom honour is due.” This movement is only beginning, and with the help of God, we will move beyond social media posts to more concrete expressions of honour. And to those who think honouring fathers diminishes authority, think again. Honour does not weaken authority, it refines it. And history vindicates honour, not arrogance.

Thank you for reading through, let us know from you in the comment section what runs on your mind after reading this from our father Rev. Dr. Bobbs 🙏
