HE SPOKE THE TRUTH, YET HE FOUND HIMSELF ARRESTED BY A FELLOW PASTOR AND WAS COMPELLED TO APOLOGIZE FOR HIS HONESTY. HOW WOULD CHRIST PERCEIVE SUCH A SCENARIO?
I find it difficult to cast blame upon any of them. Instead, I find myself questioning the Lord's boundless mercy upon the generations of humanity like ours.
God's judgment is indeed lenient; otherwise, He might have obliterated us all for the multitude of errors we commit both in private and in public.
When I contemplate the error recently preached by Korede Komaiya in public forums, I am left to ponder how God must feel upon His throne, yet remains patient until the day of judgment. How can one proclaim that lacking wealth equates to a lack of holiness? Such nonsensical rhetoric...
The havoc that money wreaks everywhere is alarming. Even within the church, the devil ensnares us with monetary temptations, and we fall prey to them. We indulge in the luxuries of life and can no longer uphold the plain truth. Who has bewitched us?
Believers must remain vigilant and discerning, refusing to embrace teachings that merely incite a thirst for wealth. One can be affluent and still be acceptable to God, but wealth is not a criterion for divine acceptance.
A pastor publicly corrected Komaiya's preaching and faced arrest for defamation. Sowore, the activist who does not share our faith, intervened and advised the pastor to pursue legal action, suggesting it was a civil matter. Ultimately, the issue was resolved, and the pastor was instructed to apologize openly for mentioning Korede's name.
Observing how many of us strive to maintain peace with all, I am astonished. We shy away from standing for the truth. We fear persecution for the truth. This is why truth struggles to thrive in our generation. We allow it to be silenced, whether by money or by men.
Pursuing peace with all does not mean silencing the truth. We can convey the truth without defaming others, yet truth inherently exposes lies and liars. In the end, we may apologize for hurting others, but we should never apologize for speaking the truth.
Why should anyone publicly defame the genuine gospel for the sake of prosperity and not expect God to raise His own to correct such errors?
The notion of pastors suing pastors for the sake of self-image rather than any grave offense is unimaginable. The spirit of self-interest prevails now more than ever, overshadowing the divine will. Money inflates our egos, and many are oblivious to this reality.
Reflecting on the background of the pastor who was arrested, I discovered he hails from a lineage of prosperity preachers. He is closely associated with Enenche, who is linked to Komaiya, who is also connected to Oyedepo. It is understandable how he could be easily persuaded. The godfathers likely intervened to mitigate the situation, at least to shield themselves from the attacks of Sowore and other skeptics.
While I disagree with non-believers meddling in church affairs, one must admit that the church has become worldly. We have lost the respect of others due to our own compromises of biblical truth.
I commend the pastor who apologized under pressure to preserve the image of a fellow minister. Yet, I wonder if the image of Christ is truly upheld by both parties. We are quick to protect our own image but often neglect the image of the One who redeemed us from the grip of sin and mammon.
I am confident that God will raise others who will not bow to mammon, fear men, or persecution. Individuals who will boldly proclaim the truth, enabling God to set people free.
While some Christians may seek peace, others will embrace persecution.
Have you ever encountered an instance in the Bible where physical peace ultimately edifies people?
The peace of Christ and peace with God are what truly build us, never peace with error or false teachers.
Can you envision Jesus apologizing to the Pharisees? God forbid! He would rather embrace death than apologize for speaking the truth.
If Jesus had personally offended them, I am certain He would have apologized, just as Paul apologized to the high priest for a personal affront. However, no sin was found in Jesus; all accusations against Him were devoid of personal offense.
Let each person continue in their ways. The day of recompense is approaching.
Indeed, God has called many who have strayed. They require our prayers as well.
The Word of God is ancient, yet it surpasses any messenger.
The Word of Truth cannot be silenced, irrespective of our fame or obscurity.
Regardless of our status, our messages and lives should always reflect more of Christ and less of self.
God bless.
