A young minister asked me for help with his ministry. He sent me some pictures of what he had done in the past. I sent him some money to support his ministry and conduct outreach meetings. After a few months, he called, asking me to come and preach for him in Abuja. In his words, he said, "I know our ministry will change forever if only you can step foot in our church."
So, I asked him how many people he had in his church and what he did with the money I sent him. He told me there were about fifteen people, including his family of six, and that they spent five hundred thousand Naira on food for the needy. However, they were unable to pay their rent of two hundred and eighty thousand Naira.
I told him that the first thing he should have done was pay their rent and then use any remaining funds to win more souls into his church. I emphasized that he would need to work harder.
This was his reply: "Papa, what God cannot do does not exist. I believe in grace and not hard work. Jesus has finished the work on the cross. Sir, all we need is a little more push, and we will be good to go."
I don’t know what to do or how to respond to this young man, but I think this generation needs a total spiritual overhaul. I simply told him he should meet Jesus for that little push.
As a young minister, you need a mentor and a father who will rebuke you and teach you the truth of the Word. All those useless slogans, like "A father is your feather to go further," will do nothing but destroy you and your ministry.
