WHY DO PEOPLE LOSE THEIR FAITH IN GOD
1. DELAYED ANSWER TO PRAYERS.
There are people who have prayed many years, yet they experience delays; it seems like the more they pray, they see the reverse. In these kind of cases, people can lose their faith. When your hope is deferred or delayed, it makes your heart sick. Scripture says: Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12.
2. DECIET AND MANIPULATION
There are many deceptive and manipulative sermons coined outside the truth of scriptures. These have damaged the faith of many. Many people have reduced the truth of scriptures to mere human philosophies and traditions of men after the rudiments of this world. Scripture says: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8.
3. THE ATTACK AND ERRORS OF HEROS OF FAITH.
When someone who led you to Christ falls to certain fleshly errors which you are aware of, you may lose your faith. This is the reason why you must make Christ your standard, not any man of God. Paul said, follow me as I follow Christ (1Corinthians 11:1). Implying that if I stop following Christ, stop following me. As a believer, be aware that your lifestyle can either build or destroy the faith of others. You should be a reflection of the God you preach. When it comes to the attacks on men of God, the devil uses such as tools to damage the faith of people.
4. FAMILIARITY.
Familiarity is that spirit which makes you feel you know a person and can predict that person even before the person takes actions. Familiarity can make you predict and conclude on your man of God and miss the futuristic level of faith which you should grow into. Many people lose their faith because familiarity makes them commonize and normalize things of the spirit. You need to leave certain zones of familiarity, if you must not lose your faith.
5. BITERNESS AND UNFORGIVENESS.
The faith of many has been greatly broken by the venom of bitterness and unforgiveness. Listen, for the preservation of your faith value, you must learn to forgive people even before they ask. Scripture says: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14. Let go bitterness and unforgiveness else you affect the betterment of your faith. Four categories of people you must forgive are: Your biological parents when they hurt you. Forgive your friends, contemporaries and competitors because they will often most likely do things against you. Forgive your enemies, because forgiving your enemies is a way of handing them over to God’s judgement. And lastly, forgive yourself.
