Pondering whether it is appropriate for unmarried pastors to offer marriage counseling or officiate weddings, Apostle Alain Joshua expressed strong concerns about the quality of marital guidance being given from the pulpit today:
"I have seen single pastors preach passionately about marriage and dish out terrible marital advice. In fact, I have seen unmarried pastors bless (officiate) marriages. I really think a person who hasn't walked a path doesn't stand a chance of guiding others down it (in context)."
He emphasized that pastoral ordination alone does not automatically equip someone to counsel or bless a union, noting that many marriages have suffered unintentional dam@ge due to a lack of competence on the subject.
